Okay, time for everyone's favorite hourly recurring segment, Spotify playlist reviews, only found on queuesome dot com (not to be confused with queue sum dot com, a web site that tells you how many people are in line with you [it won't tell you your position in line, but if you can see the back of the line you can just do a quick subtraction to figure that out {queue diff dot io}]) the blog.
Today’s POI (SPOI wasn't catching on) is Suzy Queue, a playlist that is a pure digital personification of listening to an FM radio in an unfamiliar town with the only two channels you can clearly land on being a pop hits of the past decade and an alt station that’s playing poppy alt music that isn't really recent but also isn’t too old either, and neither of the two stations are ever coming in clear at the same time so you're always forced to listen to one regardless of song that is on.
Second things 2nd, great name, obviously not too original though because the only way I came to do this review on this playlist was because I thought of the name in my head first and then did a search on it to see if it actually existed (it did. And yes, I do live alone, why do you ask?). Regardless, it gets the job done, definitely a pun (p-u-n-n?) and has the correct capitalization like the proper nouns your parents read about (definitely p-u-n).
Moving on to the cover art, we got ourselves a good ol “let the swedes do the work for me” ‘first four tracks on deck’ cover art style. Personally, it's the style I prefer because it puts a lot of pressure on you as a user to make sure you not only have four solid songs to start off with but that also have some album artwork (a common problem one faces when they primarily listen to bootlegged White Stripe concerts that regularly get DCMA'd). Obviously, something that anybody with 4 Spotify followers would be crazy to stress over (two thumbs).
So, the artwork, one of the most import aspects of a playlist (besides the title of course) really has something goin on Suzy Queue. From the top we got rihanna “love on the brain”, a very strong start, although it does make you wonder when rihanna will drop another album. So, overall, a bit of a distracting first track. Number two, we have some Dua Lipa, which fits the receipt but is skewed by the fact that it’s a Spotify live session. It's too early to call on this one, but we could very well be reviewing a Spotify bot created playlist. The svedes could be cookin the books on us. I mean her last album was 2016, we gotta be due soon right? And she dropped a single in 2020, should be any day now. Song Number 3 is a cover by what appears to be a British artist known for covers. The dua lipa session was also live from London, this playlist creator may be British. Good thing I haven’t said anything too controversial so far like how spelling the color gray with an E is mad dumb. Finally, our Bill Hunting cleaning up in the 4 spot is not so much out of left field, but more from that section that’s a little after third base where the seats start to get a little higher up. We have a cover of landslide from NBCs the Voice, Mondays, and Tuesdays @ 12 am GMT (and based on the google image link of the 5-minute YouTube clip that I did not watch, they were on team Alicia). And then to keep the trend going we have 2 more the Voice tracks after that. So, to recap, a British fan of the Voice (I am also now realizing that this is kind of turning into me mildly stalking this dude, note taken, will pivot).
I think we covered most of the heavy hitters on this one. Suzy Queue is 2hr 40min train ride of contemplating tears but of never getting to the point where you're physically holding them back. You got Bruno Mars but you also have Walk the Moon, you have Plain white Ts and Of monsters of men but you also have The Weeknd (Ladies and Gentlemen) and Halsey (but unfortunately no Petty). Whether if you're rockin out to some Alicia keys (hey! A callback) or walking down the street to that one BØRNS song, Suzy Queue is going to get you to where you need to go, especially if its July and you want to ironically play "All I want for Christmas is You" unironically.
If you wanna check out the playlist or just show the creator, Caleb Eichmann, some love, you can check out and follow the playlist here
